I built my website, DustyNewt.com on Googlesites, about three years ago. The only drawback I really had with it was that it would not allow a PayPal shopping cart to be added. I recently went searching for a place to build (for free) a new website that would allow me to add a shopping cart. After a few false starts, I came to realize that I was making a fuss over nothing.

The simple answer occurred to me as I updated one of my Zibbet listings. I am already paying my monthly fee here, and there is no final sales fee, so why not use Zibbet's shopping cart!?! Plus, it would drive traffic, not only to my Zibbet shop, but to the whole Zibbet community.

For me and my products, it works great. The Zibbet listing URL stays constant even if I re-list it. So, I only have to load a new link when I add something new to my website. Within 24 hours, I had two sales that had originated on my website, and migrated to Zibbet to handle the purchases.

I still run across people daily who have never heard of Zibbet, ArtFire or even Etsy. This is a great way to promote Zibbet as a whole as well as your own stuff. If you have a free website, or blog that you would like to add PayPal buttons to but can't (or can't figure out how), this might be a solution for you too.

I haven't completed the process yet, I have four pages done. But if you want to see how it works for me, visit my site and check out my Keychains or MiniTags sections.

Scott

Thank you Hannah. It is not that hard, but it is, like my workshop, a "work in progress".

Hi Judy, I do use Flickr a lot. I post my new uploads to about 20+ related groups and seem to get more views that way. Also to my Facebook Page. Flickr also is a gallery warehouse of my work. Each type of item I do has its own album and a link beside my website listing.

Thank you both for chiming in.

Peace in Wood,

Scott

Good job on your website. I didn't know Googlesites could look so good.

Thanks Scott

I am going to check this out.

I, too, have experienced that most people have never heard of Etsy. Sometimes when I am telling someone about Zibbet and they seem to need a better explanation I'll say, "like Etsy" and they respond, "What's Etsy?" I reply, well never mind then, lol, and go back to telling about Zibbet.

I think many of us crafters just assume the whole world knows about Etsy as if it were eBay or Walmart. But the regular buying public for the most part has no clue what Etsy is.

Also isn't buying online a relatively new way to shop? Most people I know buy everything in stores. There are still many people who would never buy anything on line. But as we enter into an era of high priced fuel and families staying home more, I think buying on line might become the norm.

Scott, I saw your new rings on Flickr and they are amazing. I wish more Zibbeters would add their items on the Zibbet Flickr Group. Maybe you can throw in here what you see is beneficial to using Flickr. For instance, for me, Flickr is where I saw your rings.

Here's the Zibbet Flickr group if anyone elese wants to join:
