When my niece was little (around 4), she spent the afternoon with me.  I thought it would be fun to teach her a joke I had heard recently.  "A skeleton walks into a bar and says, 'Bartender, give me a beer....and a mop!".  Just the sort of thing that would be cute for a little one.

I practiced with her all afternoon, and when she saw her Mom that night, she greeted her with, "A skeleton walks through bars, and...."  That is as far as she got.  I had to explain the joke to my sister in law, and we all had a nice chuckle at my niece's attempt.  At that point, my brother came into the room and asked what we were laughing at.  His wife tired to tell him the joke, but it came out:  " A skeleton walked into a bar and said, 'Bartender, give me a broom and a mop!"

Over the years, that mistake has worked its way into the family vernacular, and now many a joke ends with the punchline, "Bartender, give me a broom and a mop!"
