About me!

Hello from beautiful northeastern Pennsy!

My love and passion is working with yarns and fibers, principally knitting and crocheting with them. I've done this since I was a child, gifting others with my creations; and I'm rather new to selling and am still getting adjusted to the idea. I'm learning that I can still craft the things I personally like and that those with similar tastes and likes will find me!

Most of the time I dislike using patterns and just work a piece according to what the particular yarn "tells" me it should become. My favorite attributes for items are simplicity and adaptability to multiple uses. Rather than using fancy stitches (which ARE fun and interesting), I most often use basic stitches and allow the yarn's beauty to do most the "talking".

I can be found in several locations. I'm just opening my shop at Zibbet, and some of the others are also in the beginning stages. I'm intending to funnel completely into Zibbet as time passes and close my other shops.

The knots are an ancient pattern. I think Leonardo Dvinci did some drawings of the pattern. The art of knotting is associated with the sea as many of the knots were of practical use aboard sailing ships back in the day. These decorative or "fancy" knots were used to dress up ordinary objects and as it happens they also make some informal wearable art.

The bracelets can be slipped on and either worked up or allowed to shrink in place if they are cotton. I always list a "slip-on" size in the shop to give people a chance to measure and determine the correct fit. If you make or buy a larger one it can slip on and off for occasional wear. They can also be worn for extended periods with a snug fit.

For a lot more on knotting check this web site:

http://www.igkt.net/index.php

Just for fun you can search on some of the terms like knotting, turks head, and sailor bracelet to see the wide range of products available from many sources (some of which are my competitors in the online market.)

Thanks for your interest!

George

Hi Diane,
I make these cuffs out of cotton and nylon cord. They don't have buttons or closures. They are continuous woven braids that are fit by working the slack out of what is actually a complex knot.

You can see a good sample of the collection on Zibbet (of course!)

http://www.zibbet.com/WhatKnotShop

and elsewhere too...

The bracelet in the photo is a 13 part by 19 bight by 2 strand turks head knot. The weave is a double diamond pattern made out of 1/8" nylon.

Many of the item in the shop are cotton many are made from hand dyed material.
All are ready to ship and I do custom orders as well.

thanks!

George

Well hello back to you Diane, so nice of you to drop me a "bonjour". I hope you're having a great day so far *smile*. And by the way, I just saw your comment about the giant Etsy widget on my Zibbet shop page...Pretty cool indeed that it links back to the item directly in my Etsy shop...It's a bit big right now, but once I add more items to my shop I think it would be wiser to make it smaller and put it to the side. Zibbet is great for letting us share items on Etsy :D
