Hi Ladies, as some of you know I'm new to crochet and really enjoying it a lot. Is it my imagination but I find there seems to be variations to doing the double crochet?

When I watch tutorials, some people increase their rows by 2 chains, some by 3 chains. Can anybody explain this to me because it confuses me.

You can do both. Just try which one looks better.
I increase the row by 2 chains, that is how I can get more straight side.
That's good to hear Marta, thanks. When I first started doing it, I would increase by 3 chains and found that my edges didn't look straight. Naturally, I thought it was just me doing something wrong. Then I tried to increase by 2 chains only and I do find it looks better, just like you said. Thanks for confirming this!
Two chains!!!
Hiya,
Is this something to do with the American and English versions of what a double crochet is?
I remember reading something that says that they are different... and one is what might be called a treble (hence the 3 chains)
Hi Ladies,

I want to show you my first piece that I finished last week. It's one of those eternity scarves, I love those! The little rose bud is just pinned on. What do you think ?

I have to admit that I fumbled. In about 3 or 4 rows I decreased my stich by accident then increased back to what it was. Typical newbie error I guess. So this one I am of course I'm keeping. I'm not ready to sell yet, a LOT MORE learning to do!
