it's time for me to open my other store. I'm not the most easygoing and patient person in the world and have the tendency to hop back and forth with tasks and interests. My shop now has over 230 items in it and I'm wondering if that's too much to hold someones attention. Sure. You can pick out different sections but I'm not sure if I can keep a customer's attention for even that amount of time. Is it just me or am I onto something?

I think you are right.  With as much inventory as you have it would make sense to separate your non-clothing items from the clothing.

Thanks, Claranne. unfortunately the name that i originally listed the new shop as may not reflect what I would like to put in it. Ah, well. Onto another day,

I have heard that business starts to pick up, and Google starts to find you more once you reach near the 300-item mark in any given shop. I'd like to give it a try myself, but I'm a long way off. Still, you have to do what works for you.

Have you checked your bounce rate to see how long people are staying there or if they are leaving soon?

Linda

Linda ~  Could you explain bounce rate to me,  mine is 60% in one shop  does that mean that they are leaving quickly??  Thanks!

Rebecca: hope this helps

Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality - a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren't relevant to your visitors. The more compelling your landing pages, the more visitors will stay on your site and convert. You can minimize bounce rates by tailoring landing pages to each keyword and ad that you run. Landing pages should provide the information and services that were promised in the ad copy.

To view the bounce rates for your website, go to the Bounce Rate report under Visitors >Visitor Trending > Bounce Rate.
