I've had my shop open since the beginning of April And still no sales.I know I need to add more items but do to my sons wedding and then some family stuff I've had to put things on hold.
I'm back to working on things but I still have doubts about keep[ng the shop open or closing it down. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Blessed Be,
Nancy

Cute shop! I just pinned the Computer Monster here:

and also sent it to Twitter.
I say hang in there for the rebuild and keep building up your stock and working on your shop to improve it.

The only suggestion I would make would be to make more items geared toward the fall. The first thought I had when I looked at your shop was spring. We all understand life getting it he way of creating! You just have to make time when you can and don't pressure yourself to make make make. Just sit down and work out a line of things to make and do what you can when you can. Don't give up!

I think you hit on the main issue--limited selection for shoppers. With all the shops selling online shoppers feel they do not need to settle for excellent, they expect to find something perfect. You need to pique the interest of a shopper with what she sees immediately on entering your shop, and you do a good job at that, but then once she scrolls down the page she sees that you only have 19 items, and unless one of those really grabbed her, the shopper will be gone. With more items for a shopper to scan, she will become more invested in your shop and be more prone to thinking seriously about your products.
Some of your photos could be sharpened up, and be sure that you have some overall photos so the shopper can see the entire item, and not just closeups of portions. For example, I assume that your Bubblegum Pink Baby Afghan is round, but no photo shows that, and the description does not clearly say it is a full circle (except in the tags which no one will read).
For your knit items, if they are hand knit, say so--that adds value. If they are machine knit, say so to ensure a buyer is not surprised when the item arrives.
Your profile could be expanded. What you have is good, but I'm sure you could say more that would make shoppers feel your products are better or more desirable than those of your competitors.
Your top row of items currently is all pink (or close to pink). That is great for a lover of pink, but if you arrange the shop to put more varied colors at the top you will be more likely to catch the attention of a shopper who avoids pink.
Those are my top comments and suggestions. I especially like those wonderful, whimsical products in your toys section. Patience and more products should bring you sales. Happy selling.

Permalink Reply by NIFTYKNITS (Heather) on December 12, 2011 at 5:24am Nice name ;-) To be honest it confused me a bit, because the first items I saw are all crocheted, not knit!
Like others have said, more inventory might help? Offering international shipping might help too, I see you have Canada and the States but there are more of us out there (I'm in the UK)
Permalink Reply by Momma Jewels on December 14, 2011 at 5:39am Your work is real nice, but your items have a limited market, there are hats for all seasons and with your talent, you could come up with some real nice designs. Hats will bring in people to see what else you have. They are more main stream. It is also important to have more products. Hang in there, you won’t get rich but you never know what may develop, I crochet too and I just do it for the enjoyment. If you can make a few bucks doing it, you go girl.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'll work on a lot of them but right now I have a few family things going on that are keeping me away from doing much crafting.
Nancy..you have some very nice items :)
When you are talking about keeping the shop open or closing it down...do you have the shop items elsewhere on the net where the items are getting more sales?
I am really sorry that you are getting discouraged but why would you shut something down instead of sticking around for the long run...unless you have another venue that you are already very successful on?
I hope you hang in there and I hope you will keep working on your items and adding more :)
Happy Holidays :) and best wishes
Rhonda
I've decided to stick around and work on getting more stuff in the shop. I do have an Etsy shop that I have been getting a few sales from but I have the same problem there not enough product so I'm working on getting organized and taking this more seriously.
Thanks for all of your advice and encouragement it really means alot.

Nancy
Do a take along bag. You have a lot of nice little things that can be done on the go. i also have a lot of family things. I take my bag along and do the basics while Im out. Maybe that will work for you. Then it will be just the put together that youll need to find time for.
