Today I spent time playing around with materials in my stash that caught my eye. I came up with three necklaces that are atypical for the style jewelry that I usually end up creating. I'd appreciate some constructive criticism on these three pieces. It would be nice to hear your thoughts on these few questions...

Permalink Reply by Becca Desty on February 14, 2012 at 6:21pm I adore this! I love how asymmetrical it is and how if you just glance at it the black knots almost look like birds. My favorite of the three!
Even if the necklace can fit over most peoples heads, it's best to use clasps anyway. This way people don't have to worry about messing up their hair if they need to put the necklace on or take it off. It also prevents the necklace from breaking due to the lack of tugging and pulling you would otherwise get when trying to get the necklace over your head.
Otherwise, I think it is definitely sellable. I can't really help you on pricing as I have no idea what things like this go for.
Permalink Reply by Jordan Newhouse on February 14, 2012 at 7:10pm I really like this. As was mentioned, the little black ties look almost like birds. I love the bird charm (or whatever you call it). The beads are a bit big and colorful for me. I don't like my jewelry to be very bold. Then again, I hardly wear any jewelry. So that's just a personal preference.

Permalink Reply by Becca Desty on February 14, 2012 at 6:24pm I think this one is very nice. I like the oriental look of it and I love your color choices for the squares. I think it would a bit better if you connected it to the strap in a different way so the knot and little overhang piece wouldn't be visible. I feel like the knots where the black begins takes away from the look a bit.
Otherwise, it is a beautiful piece and I could easily see it selling.
Permalink Reply by LOC Design Studio (Vicki) on February 11, 2012 at 4:55pm This necklace is made of copper washers and handmade copper wire jump rings. I purchased the washers and the copper wire at the hardware store. The necklace features a simple glass pendant and includes black suede cord. The necklaced measures approximately 28". Pendant is approximately 2 1/2" long and approximately 5/8" wide.

If you're game to try another necklace, hammer the washers on both sides for a completely different look. As time goes on they start to age into a really nice finish. With the hammering giving them texture and a fun organic look.

Thanks so much. I'll definitely play around with hammering those washers. I just may take this necklace apart and start with these. I think the texture would add a lot to this piece.
