Community . . . Now there's a funny word, but what does it really mean?
Let me start by saying that here at Zibbet we are extremely proud of our community of sellers. We are proud of their tremendous creative efforts and we are especially proud of the dedication they have to upholding the values of this fine online community.

A strong community can exist without great quantities of common goals and objectives. In fact, they can be established and remain very vital purely built on just a few commonly held beliefs or values. We're big on simple values here at Zibbet.
It's quite common these days to hear people question the long term health of online communities and their impact on offline communities, especially since the advent of friendster, myspace and of course more recently through Facebook and Twitter.
But this is not the first time in history that people have been saddened by the potential breakdown of strong community living.
Some of our wonderful members reading this will have been around long enough to remember the introduction of automatic garage roller doors. When automatic roller doors hit the mass market, they changed the way we do community forever. All of a sudden neighbors who used to stop and talk to each other on a daily basis as they arrived home each evening, could now stay in their car and drive right inside without having to speak with anyone. Relationships changed.

The truth is that as our methods for living in community change, the strength and vitality of these communities do not have to change.
When you remove everything else, community comes down to each individual esteeming the common values. Here is one example: At Zibbet we believe that when someone asks a question, they deserve an answer. It's not a business strategy as much as it's a value to us. It's easy for us to abide by because it's an esteemed value.

At the end of the day our Zibbet community lives and dies on the shoulders of a couple of integral values. We believe in respecting all others in the community. We believe in communicating in a manner that engenders trust and not malice.
You can pretty much sum it up with this statement that "each of us need to look not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of others"
If we keep that in prime position, we'll have a fabulous community for a long, long time.

So with Zibbet growth at an all time high and with new members joining all the time it's important to share these already established values with every new person that joins us. Without doubt, there is an expectation that each one will play their part in preserving what has become a wonderful culture for people to belong to.
So, could I graciously ask everyone to speak well to each other and keep our core values in mind as we interact. Usually it's not 'what we say' that can cause the greatest friction but 'how we say it'

We are not suggesting for a moment that people won't disagree with each other from time to time. They will, and thats ok. Let's just remember to keep the values in mind as we go.

We are hopeful here at Zibbet that we will never have to be in a position where more 'formal' guidelines and protocols are required for our community. The reality is that it's possible for us to grow unceasingly without the need for all of that.
I know this has been a long post but we feel an important one in this stage of our common journey's.

Let's keep our community strong, warm, helpful and friendly.
If you also feel passionately that we need to pull together in this direction, then please add your comments and let us know.

Enough from me. Happy selling everyone!
Andrew
